January 04, 2019 Mike's Message - Welcome to 2019

As each year goes by, the incredible powder conditions in Blue River continue to impress me. Today the powder is falling down big and straight in Blue River and there will be more awesome skiing conditions to follow. What a fantastic way to start the New Year.

We are currently experiencing a huge winter storm cycle that has brought 50 cm overnight and another 50 coming today. Every year these storm cycles repeat itself in Blue River. The climate in this area is special because it consistently offers the best quality of snow for skiing… and this year is no exception. When the snow crystals are preserved at these types of cooler temperatures – like what we have here today – and low wind preserves the fluffy snowflakes, our guests get to enjoy the highest quality of fun for powder skiing. This is why I came to these mountains close to 50-years-ago and never left.

2018 was a great year in Wiegele World. We welcomed many new guests from around the world and I always enjoy seeing new faces and taking longtime friends out to the mountains for the best experience of their life.

Every year is full of opportunities and I can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store. In September, I had knee surgery to repair an old ski injury from the 60’s and plan to get back on skis very soon. Looking forward to seeing you here, skiing with you and experiencing the awesome snow conditions in Wiegele World.
