HIRING INFO & KEY EMPLOYMENT POLICIES

Required Documents: If you are offered a job at MWHS you will be required to provide the following documents: SIN, direct deposit information, email address for your pay-stub, emergency contact information, and a permanent mailing address.

Training & Development: New and returning employees attend pre-season training and a company-wide orientation at the start of the season. Resort tours are conducted to familiarize new staff with the resort. In addition to departmental and job specific training we train our employees on service expectations, timesheet protocols, and policy and procedures. To further develop employee skills and enhance the employment experience we encourage cross training. We are committed to the development of employees and in providing the support they need to excel in their jobs. To ensure our employees are effective in their positions we provide ongoing feedback and have a comprehensive performance management program.

Appearance & Grooming: Employee appearance is a direct reflection of our company image. Employees are expected to be well groomed. MWHS has a grooming policy as we expect our employees to project an image that is professional, healthy, and clean cut. Extreme hairstyles are not permitted. Tattoos must not be visible. Piercings are limited to small tasteful earrings for females. Men must be clean shaven. Men’s hair must be above shoulder length and must be neat. Staff in some departments are required to wear uniforms and name-tags, which are provided. Staff in other departments are expected to follow a dress code of which supervisors will outline prior to the employee’s start date.

MEALS & HOUSING INFORMATION

During the winter season employee meals are available at our staff restaurant for a subsidized cost. Staff can payroll deduct up to 3 meals per day. Meal costs are: $4 for breakfast, $5 for lunch, and $6 for dinner. Each meal is freshly prepared and served in our staff restaurant. During the summer season staff receive a 25% discount at our summer restaurant.

MWHS offers subsidized staff accommodation to employees who do not wish to find accommodation privately. A range of accommodation is available including dorm style, shared houses, bachelor apartments, and motel units. Costs vary from $80 to $225 biweekly depending on the accommodation. Rent is deducted from each paycheque on a biweekly basis. A security deposit is deducted from the first paycheque. The security deposit is returned, if the accommodation is left clean and without any damages, after the resident vacates or on the final pay. While there is some variation amongst units most accommodation includes utilities, phones, tv, laundry facilities, and wireless internet. Most of our accommodation units have kitchenettes. All furniture, towels, bedding, and kitchen items are supplied. Residents may exchange their linen once per week at our laundry facilities. All residents are required to sign a Tenancy Agreement agreeing to the rules and regulations of staff accommodation.
