The North Thompson River and the local lakes and rivers provide excellent fishing for bull rainbow trout and salmon - but somewhere up in the alpine the fish are jumping... and we fly to where the action is. Our alpine lakes are accessible only by helicopter. In these parts the cutthroat and rainbow trout swim thick. And the best part? Just you, your guide and your pilot know where to find them.
What better way to explore our corner of the world than by flying into its midst, and literally beginning in the middle. Our experienced guides choose routes for all levels from an hour's stroll among spectacular alpine wildflowers to a full day's hike over varied terrain. Enjoy the best the back country has to offer, and return from this spectacular environment feeling like you've been on top of the world.
Or plan a shorter trip and enjoy a gourmet lunch, surrounded by mountaintops and meadow vistas. Excursions take approximately two hours.
Join us for a breathtaking flight in the comfort of the helicopter as we pierce deep valleys and skim the high peaks of the Cariboo and Monashee mountains. From icy blue glaciers to flower-laden meadows, a heli-sightseeing excursion guarantees a bird's eye perspective of Canada and its unsurpassed beauty.
If you are looking to challenge yourself and would like to develop your skills for safe mountain travel in the mountains then Heli-Mountaineering may be right for you. You will learn about safe glacier travel, use of crampons and ice axe while traveling on snow and ice, rope techniques, rescue techniques, navigation, route selection, trip preparation, and mountaineering ethics.
Although no prior experience is necessary, mountaineering is a strenuous activity and participants must be in excellent physical condition. During your stay in the mountains you will be based out of the Grizzly Hut which has beds for up to 10 people and all the amenities of a home kitchen in order to prepare tasty meals after a long, hard day. Typically, we run 7-day trips but we can tailor a trip to suit your schedule and needs. All meals and accommodation, and helicopter flights are included in the package price.
