Avalanche Skills Training Course (AST) - April 9-11, 2010 : MWHS is pleased to offer a 3 day Avalanche Skills Training Course . Designed specifically for outdoor enthusiasts interested in the backcountry, the main focus will be on learing the basics of the snowpack, backcountry skiing and guiding with an introduction to terrain selection, avalanche stability rating, guiding procedure, and rescue/emergency communication. Course is $367. Meals and accommodation are available at $60/person/day, based on double occupancy. Contact Chris Simm for more information or to register. Summer Glacier Skills Course - September 12-18, 2010: Guests are invited to take part in this introductory development course for those with no previous mountain training. Students learn about glacier travel, crampon use, rope technique, protection, rescue techniques, navigation, route selection, trip preparation and mountaineering ethics.
