I have been to Wiegeles 3 times and another well known operation twice. While they are priced similarly, there is really no comparison. Safety always comes first, and MW started the Canadian Guides Association years ago where hundreds of guides have been trained, and it is recognized as a center of excellence worldwide. His collection of guides is without equal and there will be two in your group at all times. These guides know this terrain and this snow. The lead guide of the group will not be in that role without years of experience as a tail guide at THIS COMPANY. My recent lead guide has been in that lead role for over 20 years! They have also funded the most comprehensive studies in coordination with universities on how snow behaves in the mountains. After safety, the second most important consideration is terrain. Early on, Mike staked heli rights to a huge area in two mountain ranges filled with both tree runs and high alpine glaciers and everything in between. Their area is also right in the heart of the snow belt where it dumps over 1000 inches per year (twice that of Alta, for instance). When all of this is mixed in with luxurious accommodations, beautiful base lodge with lots of amenities, five star food supported by daily deliveries, vast wine cellar, and top notch customer services at all moments, how can you go wrong? A full fleet of helicopters are housed and maintained right on site. I plan to go each year as long as I am able. They have made me a huge fan, which inspired me to write this review.

"I just wanted to thank-you for the best skiing vacation I have ever had. Our family (ages 1½ -72) had a huge range of skiing/boarding experience, from the baby only able to ride in a backpack, to young beginning skiers, athletic pre-teen boarders, middle age powder fanatics and aging back country enthusiasts, yet Saddle Mountain thrilled us all. We all had so much fun. Everybody was able to safely ski the terrain they wanted. To watch the kids learn to ski powder was fantastic, even I was able to improve my skills, and the sound of my husband hollers of joy as he bounced down line after line of untracked powder was priceless. The icing on the cake was the family bonding in the warm cat ride back to the top (when the kids weren’t watching the DVD), around the fire at lunch, in the comfortable cabin at night and over the fantastic food in the dining room. I enjoyed this vacation thoroughly and can hardly wait to return! The piano/violin concert at Mike’s house, the New Years celebrations, the Friday night show, the gym, our guides (Andy & Jason), pilot (Darrell) and the staff in the sports shop and dining room also deserve special mention. "I have been coming to Blue River since 1983. Over the past 25 years I have brought many friends to MWHS and created the "Awesome Bavarian Skiing Machine". The terrain in Blue River is extremely diverse and challenging. We migrate to the trees on the days when the Blue River snow machine is in full effect. To experience the vastness and untouched beauty of the Glaciers in the Cariboos and the Monashees is something that no European skier could ever imagine. The Guides and Pilots are the best trained in the industry, focusing on safety and customer service. Many of them have become very close friends. The private dinners at the Bavarian Estate are a multi star experience.
Coming to Blue River is like a home coming to friends.
