This upcoming year is met with a lot of anticipation and excitement; and for good reason, I can hardly believe it is our 40th year in operation. As I reflect back to the first year, I am overcome with both a sense of pride and astonishment. To say the least, our first venture into the Cariboos 40 years ago was an interesting journey. Despite having only enough credit to fly into the mountains, we were bound and determined to make our first promotional video. At 9000 feet, our group of 6 too refuge in a tent and igloo. However, we still managed to eat well - as head chef, my wife Bonnie bar-b-cued steaks to a perfection. With our gear on our backs and a few great photos, we spent the last 3 days walking out of the mountains. What a memorable journey!
Since the first trip, there have been many challenges, experiences and changes. If I would have to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. The friendships we've made along the way are priceless and the challenges and experiences invaluable in shaping us into what we are today.
Join me on a visual journey back through the years.
Mike Wiegele
Each week during the 2009-2010 - 40th Anniversary season, Mike, Bonnie & Michelle would take the stage in the Silver Buckle Lounge and tell the stories that came to be the legendary heliski resort. Bonnie Wiegele is one the sharpest storytellers you will ever come across and kept us entertained and laughing every week. This is just one of those memorable evenings....
Another video that represents the "blast from the past", is Warren Miller's Seven Days in Paradise. Made in the early 1980's, Warren brings Wiegele World to the rest of the world. You will even see how lucky Michelle Wiegele spends her 5th birthday...in deep powder no doubt! Check out Seven Days in Paradise.
